The course is great. I enjoyed the layout and fairways and greens had great grass. My issue was that the rough was entirely too deep. So much so that it was nearly impossible to find a ball only a few feet off the fairway unless you happened to step on it. I found the greens to be much slower than I expected and would not characterize them as consistent either. Some fairway bunkers had grass around the edges that was over a foot long that made finding your ball impossible unless you flew it directly into the middle of the sand. I didn’t understand the setup but I felt like I played pretty well and yet scored 8-10 strokes worse. Shinnecock Hills didn’t penalize missed fairways nearly as much during the US OPEN.

Rockwood is an excellent municipal golf course. In great condition right now. Best in Fort Worth.

Rockwood Golf Course in Fort Worth is an absolute gem. The course layout is both fun and challenging, with just the right mix of holes to keep you thinking without being overly punishing. The greens were in great shape, rolled true, and the fairways were well maintained, especially for a public course. What really stood out was the overall atmosphere. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the pace of play was solid, which made for a really enjoyable round. You can tell they take pride in keeping the course in good condition. Bonus point—the food is legit. Their sandwiches on the menu can all be turned into wraps, and the chicken wrap with tots is fire. Whether you’re out there trying to score or just enjoy a round with friends, Rockwood is a great spot to tee it up. Definitely one of the better public courses in the Fort Worth area and I’ll absolutely be back.

Played yesterday for the first time at Rockwood… After reading the previous reviews I was a little concerned, they were saying that the staff was extremely rude in that the condition of the course was pretty rough… I actually found it to be completely. The opposite for staff was very helpful and friendly and the course was in excellent shape… A few minor issues on the edge of a green or two, but that was all. This is a jam of a course built in 1938 and it still has some of the original bridges and tables Which is extremely cool. I would definitely recommend giving it a shot. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Course was in great condition for mid summer. The lady's in the pro shop were great. The first tee was a little backed up for a Wednesday at 3pm which made a slower round overall. Both times I've played here the temp was over 100. Miserably hot😳😳. I am looking forward to playing this course in the fall. The renovations they put in this course are wonderful. Highly recommend play at the new Rockwood Golf Course. Can't wait to be back.
