This place doesnt look like it has been truly cleaned in 10 years. The tops of all the baseboards are caked with dirt. The floors are buckling in numerous areas. The tops of the cabinets look like they have never been cleaned. Only a bathroom on the lower floor! The worst place for young children and toddlers! There is a ten inch step on the second floor to get into the living room! That cannot be up to california building code! Instead of putting felt footings on the chair they just used mens socks... I looked at photos of the reviews, and the same plastic chair is on the porch from 9 years ago! So much wasted space in this unit too. Constantly having to get up to protect my daughter from falling down stairs or crawling up stairs. The 3rd story has two twin beds and a fireplace for some reason... So all the heat just goes into the vaulted ceiling 30 ft about the living room. For all the fees that this place is willing to charge you they really seem to do THE LEAST amount of upkeep possible. I had to wait a while to write this review so they couldn't come and charge us for some random bs. None of the cabinets would close and they did a hideous beach/distress look to try to give the

Stayed at Mandalay Shores in June 2025 and really enjoyed the overall setting. The hotel itself is an all suites swanky feeling boutique spot with a great remodel—very bespoke—but I covered that in a different post. The Mandalay shores beach was gorgeous—soft white sand and a beautiful stretch of coastline. The natural dunes were especially cool and give the area a unique, almost untouched feel. The beach trail is a standout—super unique and worth exploring, especially when the weather is nice. That said, the only downside was seeing a number of dead birds along the shoreline, which was a bit unsettling and worth noting. Seemed like the pelicans had been dying there for years so kinda creepy! Maybe algae bloom? Overall, it still is a really special, local-feeling spot that’s great if you’re looking for something a little different.

Rooms are spacious, clean and everything works. They allow dogs in some units for a fee! Office staff are helpful and responsive. A little 80s vibes with the tile in the bathroom, but it's fine since it is clean and safe. Only negatives - they don't provide quality soap and shampoo and they charge resort fees.

It was fun. It was great nice place for the kids with great ocean views. Great sand plenty to do to keep the kids busy rooms were great. Well supplied would go back again in a heartbeat a hop skip, and a jump away from Los Angeles and a nice break.

Everyone at Mandalay Shores Resort was so friendly and helpful. Olga was especially helpful in the office across the street. Our 2-story 2bd/2ba condo was very comfortable with everything we needed for the week. Bedrooms were upstairs (Queen and 2 Twins) and a full bath with jetted tub and shower with sliding glass doors enclosure. Getting in/out of the tub was quite difficult since the tracks for the sliding doors meant you couldn't sit on the edge of the tub. The full bathroom downstairs had a nice, step-in shower. Stackable Washer/Dryer in the kitchen worked great once we made sure the select switch was in the proper position (photo). With a full kitchen and a large dining table, we ate most meals in. Parking on the street right in front of the unit was convenient with the beach just down the street. We never used the pool or gym. The neighborhood was friendly and safe and it was so nice leaving the windows open with the fresh air to keep us comfortable.

My uncle evacuated after losing his apartment to the fires in California. His wife was hospitalized due to a smoke inhalation. I left my home in Virginia behind and went to Care for both of them. While I was with my uncle, Peter, I noticed that his unit did not have any heat at all. I contacted the property management company several times by phone. I was told that I was just not pushing the button right. I’m in my mid 40s. I know how to set a thermostat. During the nine days we were there they refused to send out anyone to fix the heat. It was about 50° and seemed even colder since we were right next to the water. The staff was inattentive we stayed for nine days they left us with three dishwashing tabs. Additionally, as an Eagle Scout and former marine, I leave any residence better than any condition that I had found it in. Although it bothered me tremendously that there was no air no heat at checkout I clean that Airbnb from top to bottom I dusted it so that it was better than its condition when we rented it. All the dishes were washed and put away all of the sheets were washed and folded on top of the beds that we used That is above and beyond what their rules are in their book

Nice place right by the beach. The condo was clean. The unit had its own hot tub on a private deck. Nice kitchen with all the expected utensils, pots and pans. The staff was professional and friendly. I would stay here again.
