I had a very concerning scam like experience with Frantz Glasz, the tennis coach and owner of CAL tennis academy. I’m sharing my experience so you can avoid the same experience. From what happened, he seems to be a very greedy, self centered, manipulative, potentially dangerous individual. He required $1000 all paid upfront for 10 private lessons, and refused any form of digital payment (Venmo, Zelle, etc), and refused to issue any receipt, nor digital contract. My very first lesson was fine, because I haven’t paid yet, it was a testing lesson to see if I should get the package. Then I gave the payment after that, that was when the whole experience went to hell. Frantz Glasz basically put in no effort in teaching whatsoever, since I’ve paid for 10 lessons at once, he stopped giving any proper coaching instructions, the lessons were just very low quality. Instead of giving proper instructions, he was mostly talking about his dating life, all kinds of personal stories, while I was trying to practice rallying as a beginner. Absolutely amazing place to learn and practice tennis (I'm a relatively advanced albeit rusty player). The coach is skilled, knowledgeable and provides engaging lessons. I always have a good time during one-on-one and group sessions.

Coach Frantz is the best. He is very personable and had a great sense of humor. He made me feel comfortable and his teaching is so amazing. He is tedious about the many swings in tennis and very professional and will call you out for mistakes. That’s why you need a coach like him. He will fix you. I play golf and tennis in college, needed a brush up and he delivers! Please see him and take your game to the next level!

We were fortunate to discover Cal Tennis and Frantz just at the time our 8 year old son was getting into tennis. Now he is improving at a fast pace and we have Frantz to thank for it.

We had tried a handful of tennis instructors in SF through various tennis sites that link you to local pros, as well as group lessons through parks and rec, and none of them come anywhere close to being even half as good as working with Frantz has been. He did in one lesson more than any of the other instructors could do in months of lessons, he’s a fantastic teacher and manages to keep things upbeat and fun. I do not think you could find a better instructor anywhere in the Bay Area. Frantz is able to help improve your game no matter what level you are at, it doesn’t matter if you are an absolute beginner or an experienced player who has been playing competitively for years, with his coaching you will see results.
