The Hiking Side of Glendale Sports Complex If you enjoy easy-to-moderate hiking with rewarding views, the hillside trails behind Glendale Sports Complex are a fantastic surprise. Tucked right above the I-2, these trails give you quick access to peaceful nature without leaving the city. The paths are narrow in some sections but well-marked, with plenty of greenery, shrubs and trees surrounding the hillside. You can pick between a short loop of about 40 minutes or continue climbing toward the ridge near Ridge Motorway, which usually takes around 1–1.5 hours depending on pace. The higher you go, the better the views get — you can see Glendale, the surrounding neighborhoods, and wide stretches of the freeway curving through the valley. On cloudy days the lighting is dramatic, and on sunny days everything feels crisp and bright. There are a few benches along the way (including one with a great overlook), small scenic stopping points, and plenty of quiet moments where you can just soak in the landscape. I always enjoy coming here every couple of days — it’s a quick escape that clears your mind and helps you reset.

This is a nice place to set up large sports games like soccer and baseball, and seems like a fun place to play at. There are also some nice trails here that lead into the hills and provide some nice views like the Catalina Verdugo Trail.

First class facility with 3 baseball fields and to soccer turf fields. Friendly staff. Amazing view. Use by permit only.
