This is, hands down, one of the most poorly managed swim teams. It’s fine for beginners, but once your child ages up, unless they show exceptional natural talent by around age 10, you’ll just be throwing money away each month. The coaching style is outdated; endless laps with little to no technical instruction. Don’t be fooled by the free t-shirts or the illusion of “community.” As swimmers get older, the favoritism becomes impossible to ignore. The head coach; who also runs the senior group, is dismissive and unapproachable. He only engages with or encourages athletes who are already gifted. His “gold” group gets all the special treatment, private meetings, and advancement opportunities, while the “silver” group is consistently left behind. He’s also created a system where, if your swimmer isn’t invited into his elite level, they’re essentially on their own. There’s no support, no motivation, and no genuine coaching interest. It’s disheartening to watch kids work hard and be disregarded simply because they weren’t born with raw talent. He truly does not care. Don’t waste your time, money, or your child’s enthusiasm on this program.

My daughter has been in the summer only program for a handful of years now. She moved to the year-round swimming program this fall starting with her fifth grade year. I highly recommend the program. I think the life lessons and the discipline that come out of this are incredibly valuable. I see her strength building in many ways and setting her apart unlike many of the other activities in which she has participated. We are very grateful for the opportunity here. I recommend that parents consider it for their kids starting age 6 in the summer only.

My son had his first swim lesson here and unfortunately it was a very negative experience. The coach, Jake, was harsh and discouraging throughout the session. My son, who is usually confident, cooperative, and eager to learn, came out visibly upset and said he was repeatedly told he was doing a “bad job”. He’s never responded to a class like this before and now wants to quit swim altogether. I brought this to the attention of another coach, who kindly admitted I wasn’t the first parent to express concern. However, when I followed up with the program director, Kacy Ota, I was met with defensiveness and a flat refusal to take responsibility or offer a full refund, despite their own staff acknowledging prior complaints & their breach of contract and failure to provide a positive safe environment. In addition, during this heatwave of nearly 100 degree weather, the children were not offered water breaks or restroom breaks during the full 1 hour lesson. Policies are one thing, ignoring feedback and failing to protect a child’s emotional and physical well-being is another. This club is very expensive and don’t offer much. Some staff are extremely rude. The coaches are hardly there to help the kids improve their stroke. We have been with this program for more than 4 years. I hope my child is not treated differently because of my review.

Our son participated with this swim club for a for about 6 months, September of 2017 through February of 2018. The club bills on a quarterly basis, so we were charged for 9 months - August of 2017 through April of 2018. We attempted to have the billing person wave or prorate the last quarter for which we were billed because our son only attended 2 or 3 evenings out of a possible 65 or so. The billing person was steadfast in her refusal to even consider this. I assume she has been faced with situation before, given her demeanor. I find their billing practices ridiculous. Unfortunately, it is easier to just pay them than it is to get them to see reason. This club makes a concerted effort to get parents to volunteer as much as possible. Parental involvement is great, but if you do not have time or are not comfortable with doing this, then this club might not be right for you. This club also has a list of equipment every swimmer is encouraged to purchase. Swim Suits West is heavily promoted. The club makes it seem as if this is the only place that your swimmer can purchase his/her gear. The same equipment is available elsewhere and for cheaper. We personally were able to
