About Alice Wilson Hope Park

Named after City Commissioner Alice Wilson, the park sits on the U.S. / Mexico border on the Rio Grande River in Downtown Brownsville. In 2000, the City of Brownsville dedicated a marker at Alice Wilson - Hope Park that served as the beginning point of the historic Chisholm Trail. The marker identifies the area that served as the starting point of the Chisholm Trail. The trail led from Brownsville in far south Texas and went north through present-day Yukon, Oklahoma. Near present-day Perry, Okla., it split into a western trail leading to the railroad stockyard at Dodge City and an eastern trail leading to several other railroad stockyards.

just a huge fence. elevated view across the border. no facilities at all. one nice shade tree.

Just a few parking spots with an obscured view toward Mexico through a fence. Not worth driving through a bunch of traffic & narrow streets in a spooky area of town for!

It’s a small parking lot to see the border wall and Rio Grande river. Safe to be at, had a border patrol officer on US side on the outside and inside of the fence. Nice place to visit. Got some good photos.

Don't know why this place scores so high on Google as a park?🤦It basically a parking lot with a fence,so you can see across border,which looks the same as this side of border!🤣Only thing for kids to do is climb a tree!

Historic marker about the ferry that operated from there to Mexico The border fence is there Small "park". No playground or restrooms.
