Skatepark review! Great plaza style skatepark on the border of Texas and Mexico. Smooth concrete but has some wear and tear in some sections. Pretty fun tho. It’s also surrounded by Eucalyptus trees which give off a nice pleasant Australia feeling minus the koalas. Plenty of stray dogs to fill that void, LOL!!! It’s a really fun skatepark

Tony Oliveira Park is a great place for both sports and family activities. One of the things the park is most known for is its active soccer community. Many players come here to participate in local soccer leagues, and on Saturdays the park is usually full of exciting soccer games and tournaments. The park has a wide variety of recreational spaces for people of all ages. There are two large playground areas for children, along with a smaller playground. One of the large playgrounds was newly constructed in March 2026, which makes it a great updated space for kids to play safely. In addition to the playgrounds, the park also includes a basketball court, tennis area, softball and baseball fields, kickball fields for tournaments, and even a skate park. For those who enjoy outdoor exercise or relaxing walks, there is also a trail located toward the back of the park that is perfect for walking. Near the gymnasium there is an area for exercising too. In the afternoons, especially when the sun begins to set, many people come to the park to watch the parrots and enjoy the peaceful environment. A very large city park that includes soccer fields, lots of baseball diamonds, tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, an indoor pool, outdoor workout equipment, a skate park, bathrooms, picnic tables, and more. For bird watchers, 15 minutes or so before sunset, parrots come from all over the city to roost in the trees. I had read to sit by the skate park to see them, but the parrots decided to roost in the trees past the pool building. You could hear them and see them flying to that area, so we walked there and saw a group of bird enthusiasts with monoculars, cameras, and binoculars.

Joe and Tony Oliveira Park is a total hoot, nestled in the Rio Grande Valley, famous for its ridiculously loud and colorful population of parrots that make a ruckus at sunset. As the day winds down, visitors can witness the absurd spectacle of hundreds of squawking parrots taking flight. This park is a must-visit for bird brains and anyone curious about seeing these wacky parrots in their natural habitat. We spotted both the Red Crowned and White-Fronted Amazon Parrots, and let me tell you, they were a sight to behold.

Curbs by the kickball fields are full of leaves. Palm branches fall daily, but they are not picked up. The park is full most afternoons and evenings. The park had been cleaned up. New nets for the tennis court ate still needed. The park is still a good place to walk. However, it needs major maintenance. Piles of debris and brancheshave been by big trash bins for weeks. Curbs are full.of leaves, and trash receptacles are full. The sidewalk to the new walking trail is obstructed by a tree. The branches need to be trimmed or someone is going to get scratched. Walk the dog every day...just wished they had a dog park so you could let the dog loose. Plenty of space to put one up.
