About Ventura Family YMCA
The Ventura Family YMCA is a nonprofit, health and wellness center offering child care, summer camp, youth activities and programs, swimming, youth and adult sports, and play time. The Y offers educational and leadership development activities for children and teens. The fitness facility for adults, families, and seniors consists of a gym, cardio and weight rooms, group exercise classes such as yoga, and personal training.
The Y is community-centered, connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in each communities’ needs and organize grassroots efforts to influence public policy around social issues, including child welfare, education, and public health. Members join, advocate, volunteer and donate.

I only come here for swimming but I know they have other things that they do for adults, youth and kids including neurodivergents. One of the things that I dont like is they keep on changing the swimming schedule that I can barely keep up. In addition, they usually have the pool and therapy pool for individual training or group classes that adult individual swimmers barely have the time to do their exercise and swimming unless its early in the morning. Well, I guess that goes with most public swimming places. But Overall, the facility is in great condition as they try to update and renovate it.

Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice swimming pool and equipment rooms. Attached outdoor parking lot.

They discriminate against children with disabilities. One of the instructors discriminated against my son, who has autism, by claiming that he had physically assaulted her. We were always present during his classes and never witnessed any aggression from my son toward her; in fact, whenever we asked her at the end of a session how he had behaved, she would reply that everything went very well. Yet, a few days later, they cancelled my son's classes due to this alleged aggression against her. Furthermore, they consistently refused to show us the video footage of the supposed incident—a clear lack of professionalism on the part of both the instructor and the YMCA administration. I was hesitant to join the membership for my family of 4 for the longest time but now that we are in I can’t say enough positive things about the staff (especially trainer Cara for HIIT class), swim coaches, pickleball, t-ball. It’s all so great and finally my husband and I can work out with the excellent childcare.
