An Unforgettable 90th Birthday for Mom!Our family recently stayed at the South Shore Harbour Resort to celebrate my mom's milestone 90th birthday while she was visiting us in Texas. We have stayed here in the past and always enjoyed our time, but this visit was truly better than ever!Ahead of our stay, we spoke with General Manager Jose Miranda to let him know we were celebrating my mother’s big day the following weekend. Jose and his incredible team went completely above and beyond, making this one of the absolute best hotel experiences we have ever had. Service is great and I love the scent in the lobby. However the room we were given had black mold. The door that connects our room to the other room was dirty. We asked to be moved and they accommodated us without a problem and even got a bigger room. My only complaint about the new room was the carpet was not glued down throughout the middle of the room. It has a large bump the runs across the entire room. There was a large red stain not sure If it was food, about the size of my fist that does not look like it was cleaned. The back of the entrance door was all greasy from someone looking out and getting to close or dirty greasy hands touching it. We went to the pool and the table we sat out outside is not attached to the base. When you put weight on it it will cause the table top to lean. I have lived in this area for over 20 years and I always thought this place was fancy because of the location but there are other hotels in the area that are much more impressive and smaller. The new room was horrible, after coming back from Kemah in the evening and getting ready for bed we realized the ac did not work. We tried many times to adjust it but it never stayed on. This is a genuinely nice hotel, especially if you can snag a room with a view. We had a large room with a balcony overlooking the pool and lake, which made the stay feel extra special. Staff were friendly and even let us check in early, which was a great start to the trip. The pool itself was huge and a lot of fun — the swim-up bar was a nice touch too. My complaints are mostly about logistics and signage rather than the hotel experience itself: Accessible parking: There appears to be only one handicapped spot, which seems like too few for a property this size. Parking/elevator setup: Guests are directed to a garage with a single elevator, while the "employee only" parking area actually leads to a larger entrance with two elevators. I ended up parking there since my room was on that side, but the labeling is confusing — and honestly, that area would make much more sense as the designated handicapped parking given the easier elevator access. Pool bathroom signage: There's no signage indicating where the pool bathrooms are located, so we never actually found them. Breakfast hours: The restaurant's website lists breakfast as closed during the week, but it's actually open — worth upda
