In Fall 2026, a New owner, Sean Bolleteri, took over tennis at historic Shadow Mountain resort: Only 1 staff member (prior 4), no teaching pros (prior 5), dismal memberships (down to a handful). They tried to turn it into a pickleball resort. Then the city shut that plan down due to excessive noise from pickleball (people living on site were living in a rock concert). At some point it may become the historic gem it once was, but not under the current management. I was a happy member for 9 years. Overnight it all evaporated. The mismanagement was obvious from day 1. (my pleads for a membership refund went unanswered). All my tennis friends left and joined another club (we are talking about 100s of people that left). This is a sad story, but is the new reality of Shadow Mountain Resort.

We stayed here on a family trip during the Thanksgiving week with our teenagers. Our vacation rental was very specious and well equipped. The only thing missing maybe were some basic staples (there were no spices but I am not sure that would be true for all rentals). The different areas have smaller pools and the big pool was awesome. The fitness area is small and closes when the lobby closes what was 6pm during our stay. There was no restaurant onsite but the downtown area is a short walk away. Definitely a good value for what we paid.

This is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy Palm Desert! This is one of the first resorts in the desert and the history is amazing. We come every year and love it.
