Great spot with a friendly community. Coach Yael was amazing. The play level varies, but competitive games are easy to find if that's what you're after. They run ten to twelve portable nets on permanent lines, so getting court time is never a problem. Polo

Yael does an amazing job of creating a positive, friendly atmosphere throughout all events, from novice group lessons to advanced leagues. You won't find any "big egos" here, and if they do come through, they get filtered out pretty quickly because that's just not the vibe here at Mission Bay.

San Diego Pickleball has become my go-to place to play. The open play is well organized, the games are competitive, and the overall vibe is exactly what pickleball should be—fun, social, and welcoming. Yael, the owner, has built something special here: a real pickleball community. Anyone who has ever tried to organize multiple courts of open play knows it takes effort, coordination, and a lot of care to make sure everyone gets good games. That’s exactly what happens here. The leagues are another highlight. They’re always well run, competitive, and—most importantly—fun. It’s a great mix of players and a welcoming environment whether you’re newer to the game or have been playing for years. As for the $8 open play fee, it’s honestly one of the best deals around for organized play. You get hours of games and a smooth rotation system. That doesn’t happen by magic. And bringing your own ball? That’s pretty standard at open play almost everywhere. Most players actually prefer it. Every now and then you read a review and wonder if someone showed up expecting Wimbledon-level amenities for the price of a cup of coffee. Been playing at Mission Bay Resort for almost two years. Yael and her are staff are amazing! and super friendly. I play in leagues, round robins , take lessons with Yael and attend other events hosted by San Diego Pickleball and or Mission Bay Resort. If you have time, check out the gift shop or grab a drink in Mission Joe by the lobby after play! Plenty of street parking even in the summer. New to pickleball? San Diego Pickleball at Mission Bay Resort is a great place to play pickleball. There are usually 6 to 8 courts available for open play. Open play is Monday - Friday 1-5pm for $8. The vibe and tone of the facility is very welcoming, friendly, chill and fun! They also offer daily leagues, lessons and weekend round robins for a variety of levels. There is something for all levels including intro lessons. Nice restaurant and bar at the resort for a relaxing meal or drink after playing as well!
