07/31/26 After initially reading past reviews, I was a little nervous about the possible condition of our rooms, but it was very clean and immaculate. Well stocked with clean towels and paper products. All beds very clean. The pool and swim up bar were fun and clean. A couple of us had been here before, but not since Harvey. We all had a great time! Thank you. We will be back. Austin/Bryan/College Station, Tx

Had so much fun! Everything was amazing. The pool is very relaxing. Quick walk to the beach. The only negative was the hallway outside the rooms is kind of gross. They just need to sweep it up.

Sharing similar review across multiple platforms, as I don't want another family to encounter the same disappointment as we did...especially if you've been to the resort in the past and have great memories, ours great memories of Port Royal ended in JUNE 2024. During the week of June 29 – July 3, our family of 4 took our LAST trip to Port Royal! We have stayed multiple times over the last 20 years and this was hands down the worst vacation we have EVER taken. For reference, I have always booked our family vacations the last week in at across various costal destinations and we have NEVER encountered the issues we did this year! I’ve delayed writing this review in hopes of not letting my emotions interfere with the context. Having stayed with you in June 2024, we were well aware of the ongoing recovery and renovation efforts. However, we did not expect the property to be in significantly worse condition than before the renovations began. We encountered major issues across every aspect of our stay: • Property Neglect and Pest Infestation: The bug, ant, and mosquito situation on the property was completely out of control. As the owner of a travel agency, I understand the realities of the hospitality industry. Maintenance issues happen and staffing can be challenging. However, when guests pay premium rates and a resort fee, advertised amenities should be available, especially during peak season. My family has vacationed at Port Royal for over 30 years, which makes it especially disappointing to see the steady decline. This resort was once one of the premier family destinations on the Texas coast. I can’t comment on our condo because we rented directly from an owner, but in past stays through Port Royal, unit quality varied dramatically despite similar pricing, with many condos showing significant wear and needing updates. The biggest issue is paying resort prices while so many amenities don’t operate as advertised. The water slides are posted as open 11 a.m.–6 p.m., yet they repeatedly closed well before 6:00 because no lifeguard was assigned. Guests had to track down a lifeguard to reopen them, and sometimes they simply stayed closed. During the busy July 4th holiday week, staffing should never be the reason attractions close early. My wife and I visited for Memorial Day weekend with three other couples. We had a great time at the pool and beach. The room was nice and the service was great. The food at the restaurant was really good too. It looks like the main building will be available in a few months which will improve the property even more. If you're looking for a place with a nice pool and close to the beach this is it. It is very close to Port Aransas if you want groceries, ice, etc.
