Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as gym, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers the athletic clubs, gyms, recreation and community centers, sports complexes, parks and golf clubs that keep tennis courts alongside their main business. City recreation centers and YMCAs offer the lowest prices, with day passes and resident discounts, and their courts are usually open to anyone. Athletic and health clubs bundle courts with a gym, pool and group fitness for a monthly membership. Parks departments run the public courts, permits, lights and lesson programs in most towns, and their office is the place to report a broken net or a locked gate. Golf clubs often keep a few courts for members and their guests.

Denton is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. Traffic in Denton peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Awesome recreation center at UNT. Kids went to a summer camp there and they got to use the pool at recreation center. Tons of workout equipment, very clean and not crowded (not sure if it’s due to summer), there are area for lounging as well. A huge climbing wall anchors the entire center. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Only thing is parking. Since we are familiar with the campus, we didn’t know where is the public parking for the rec center. We parked at a dorm which isn’t the right place but we were there for a short time for pick up.

Very chill environment. Stays open to Midnight most nights. Has a good selection of equipment for newcomers and experienced lifters. Dumbells go from 5 to 100 lbs, there is an area with turf, 4 basketball courts inside, soccer area as well, track and stretching area upstairs with a smaller selection of dumbells that go to 30 lbs, and a rock climbing wall at the entrance. Very spacious locker rooms with a wide mirror for posing and plenty of lockers for personal use, can also rent out locks for free at the front desk. Teq-ball tables outside as well as Volleyball and Basketball areas. For post workout there is a smoothie king with plenty of options for recovery and/or bulking. Another plus, you can play ping pong or fooseball in the waiting area. Has rooms upstairs for clubs such as Wrestling and Ping-pong. They also offer an array of paid or free follow-along classes. Only downside is the dumbell weight limit and the lack of some machines/ only one type of machine for some body parts.

Great gym take advantage of it being free while being a student if you find yourself still here as an alumni it is 33 a month which isn't bad & 22 for guest pass which is good. The pool, track, and locker rooms are spacious and generally kept clean for the traffic & compared to other UNT buildings of this age. The gym floor is decent only complaints are I wish the weight floor was expanded because that is what nost people go to this gym to use so there is usually a wait for any given machine or bench over there especially during peak hours. On breaks and very early mornings the weights area is pretty dead but most times its packed. I know this is a bit nit picky but not a fan of the high ceilings it makes this gym hot its good for the pool area but i wish there was a drop ceiling under the track so the ac would be closer.

This gym is well equipped for any gym goers needs and I've been working out there for roughly six months. It has a wide array of equipment and plenty of space for lots of people to work out too. The dance choreography class was incredible, the pool is very fun, and the hot tubs are nice to relax in after a hard day.

Pohl Recreation Center is a combination of Institute gym, wall climbing facility, volleyball courts, and swimming pool. A small auditorium is also there inside for small events. Second floor has an indoor running track, small weights for workouts, and treadmills. Gym on the first floor is equipped with variety of equipments for exercises. Dressing room has locker facility which you can rent for long time. Also, outside the dressing room, locker facilities are available daily basis. You can take 5 $ coupon per day for using the Center or opt for 22 $ coupon per month. Protein shakes are also available inside shop to buy separately.
