One of my favorites parks in Berkeley! Hidden from sight, usually not crowded and walkable. The small river and bridge gives a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend if you're nearby. Great to walk dogs or bring your family.

I used to come to this park all the time when I was a kid. It's a fun safe park that I wouldn't mind bringing my friends or family. I love that they have a theater here too. My brother used act and work as a stage manager at Live Oak Theater, back when it was managed and run by Actors Ensemble. It was all good until the city of Berkeley decided that the theater needed repairs and it need to upgrade its disabled entrance. Another theater group moved in with the promise they would do the repairs and upgrades, which of course they never did. I hope that Actors Ensemble will one day regain control of Actors Ensemble.

What a great setting for a Himalayan fair! Green grassy gathering areas, a creek flowing by, and multiple foot bridges over the the creek...plenty of trees for shade...parking was scarce, but a nice relaxing time overall

Live Oak Park is a nice city park with a mix of amenities and spaces for meeting up with friends. There are several distinct areas for different activity types, and this park is especially popular with families. Between Shattuck and Walnut Streets, there is a green space for groups and families to hang out. There are some nice trees and an idyllic stream where you can catch nature vibes. Directly south of the lawn and separated by the stream, there is the Live Oak Community Center and Live Oak Theater for community events and performing arts. This side of the park contains playgrounds, basketball courts, and tennis courts. The playground amenities are much better for older children than toddlers. The varuous ball courts are in decent-but-not-amazing condition. Across the street (between Walnut and Oxford), there is a smaller park "Area 2" with some picnic tables and a grill. There isn't much green space on this side, but you can visit the Berkeley Art Center while here. I recommend stopping by if you are visiting when the Art Center is open (12pm-5pm, Fri-Sun, free admission).
