Every summer, I sign my son up for a sports activity, and we were satisfied with the programs. This time, I signed my son up for baseball lessons; the season started late due to a lack of children, and up to that point, it was understandable. I paid for two practice sessions a week, one hour each; everything went well the first week, but things changed the second week—there were no sessions, and later there was only one session, though sometimes, if I was lucky, the practice would last an extra 30 minutes. As parents, we lost our motivation because there was no serious commitment, and the children felt the same way. We are trying to instill positive discipline in the children, but it didn't work out this summer. The excuse was the weather… practice was at 7 p.m., and there was shade. I am very disappointed. On the other hand, the coach did a good job during practice sessions, and for that reason, I’m giving them 2 stars.

I have been coming to this location for about 3 years and today is the first time I left frustrated rather than relaxed. Saturday water areboics started today and 30 minutes in, staff interrupted the class to insert a boundary line for swim class to which pushed the entire class into the shallow part of the pool; 3 feet. While the lap lanes were totally empty. Staff member stated those classes are paid for, however so are memberships. I do understand revenue is important to any business but to disregard your members is not okay. I hoping things improve because this was not okay.

We love everything about Grand Prairie YMCA. Its customer service people always smiling, always greeting us calling us by our name. We are very happy with the Literacy and Community programs that DCET/La Escuelita is offering. Anxious to attend our December 2025 graduation. The instructors, Jalon and Daveon (I hope I spelled their names correctly), were very hands-on. They worked on an area my son struggled in, which developed him into the swimmer he is today. Plus, all of the kids love the end of the session where they get to play and receive popsicles at the end. Not to mention, I also learned to swim from the YMCA when I was a kid.

What a gem! They have everything for the whole family. They have childcare while I work out. Isn’t that amazing?My son enjoy the soccer program last year and he is going to try out the swimming lessons this summer!
