First I will say that actual hotel was beautiful and rooms were very nice. We were there as part of a softball league. There were a couple leagues there and had probably rented out at least half the hotel. I understand every hotel wants to sell their own food and alcohol, but the lengths this hotel would go to to make sure that you did not eat your own food or drink your own alcohol were rediculous. Youth sports are extremely expensive and we paid good money to stay there. I went to Costco to buy pizza to bring back for the team to eat by the pool, and they would not let me go out there with the pizza since it was not provided by the hotel. We were out by the pool and there was a mom (not with a softball league) watching her kid swim and she was eating a wrap from Luna grill. The hotel staff said she either needed to put her food away or throw it out if she wanted to continue to be in the pool area (since it was not purchased at the hotel). Every time an alcoholic beverage was consumed that was not provided by the hotel, they would come and tell you that you could not have it and would need to dispose of it immediately. I accompanied my husband on a business trip and stayed at the Doubletree Irvine Spectrum. My husband has stayed here a few other times before this trip, he always praises how clean the room is and how great the service is. I will agree with him for the most part, service was top notch, every employee we came across was fabulous, we truly felt welcome. The hotel does appear clean, I however have exceptional attention to detail and found a few things that they could definitely improve on but none of them would keep me from staying there again. No fan in the bathroom... why? The whole room steams up and then you can see how dirty the windows are. No light above coffee station and no trash can beneath it. Hard to see what you are doing and inconvenient to have to move the trash cans around. There was hair on the bathroom ceiling and the area below the sink really needed to be cleaned. There was dust above all the pictures, mirrors and lamps. Im not trying to be critical just give an honest review in the opinion of someone that looks at EVERYTHING. The conditioner bottle was missing when we checked in but the front desk got us a bottle right away. The jacuzzi light was like a strobe lig
