Our trip to Academy was good today. We found what we were looking. Elizabeth was very helpful at the check out. She explained the benefits of a Academy Mastercard. Took care of the application process at the register. Quick and easy. We can use it anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

I came to buy my 14y/o sun a pair of soccer cleats, he tried about 10 different pairs for about an hour he finally got the perfect fit at a good discount price shown at the shelf but when we went to pay at the register they told me the total cost was $97.41, instead of the $64 advertised at the store, so when I asked the register he went to check with the manager and told me I had to pay the full price! At that point I started questioning why this can happen and asked again but the register said that it was not the published website price and that I had to pay the full price….the my son told me that he will pay the difference and I told him it was not right but he needed the cleats as the old ripped. I paid the full price but it’s a shame on Academy and the store manager to advertise a wrong price and ask the customer to pay full price! Shame on Academy I won’t come to buy here again after finding the website price was $62……I returned the cleats!! Beware at the prices in store and website!!

I came today to buy a handgun from academy. (No my first handgun). They guy in they weapon department was really rude and don’t wanna help me out. I come last week only with my driver license and they request me to bring a work permit to complete the sale. I bring today my work permit, and they are requesting me to get a hunting license so they can sell me the gun. They guy on the weapon department don’t sell me the handgun because he said I need to pay for a hunting license first and then they can sell me the handgun. It’s not that they can’t sell me a handgun. They just want to make me spend more money. I am just going to a pown shop to get my handgun.

Bryan or Brian, in the firearms department, I apologize if I am spelling your name incorrectly. Thank you for making my girlfriend's first firearm purchase a pleasurable experience for her, and I. Your knowledge of handguns and handgun accessories is second to none. Academy Sports + Outdoors, I hope you read these reviews because your employee in the firearms department is more valuable and efficient than 10 of the usual employees from other stores combined! Seriously, we were in and out in 30 min, and my girlfriend had no intention of buying a firearm when we walked in the store that day. She saw those pretty handguns with optics in your display case and had to have one. Bryan or Brian, answered all of her questions and guided her through purchasing all the equipment she would need to store, clean, and accessorize her firearm. He was not pushy or trying to force a sale, he was exceptional and let my girlfriend make all of the decisions on her own without having anyone tell her what she needs to buy. That is how you sell a firearm! I was impressed, so much so that my next firearm will be purchased from Brian, or Bryan as well. Now, if we could just get Academy to give a bribe 😉😉, o

I haven't been in an Academy for a minute so I was surprised to see the check out lane has turned into Marshalls. (I guess that's the new thing?) Overall it's a nice place with a decent amount of items, though they seem to be running very short on size Small items. Store was clean, plenty of open registers, and I was greeted when I walked in- always a plus in my book.
