Usually has what I need but their cattle chute check out system really congests the main aisle. One of the cashiers got cranky with me when I saw that her station light was on, but she hadn’t announced that the next customer could come up. Sorry Karen but free-will doesn’t say I have to stand there and wait for you to call me up like a dog. Another employee even smiled and told me that I could wait by her counter as she was wrapping up with another customer.

Passing along the lack of customer service and maturity from the staff. Not my story. Sharing this on behalf of my sister because what happened was one of the most traumatic things I’ve ever experienced, and I can’t begin to imagine how much more difficult it was for my sister and my niece, who was the one experiencing the medical emergency. I’m sharing this because I believe people deserve to know what happened at Academy in Amarillo and, more importantly, to bring attention to the way a medical emergency was handled by the people who witnessed it. This is not a post asking anyone to harass, threaten, or attack anyone. Please keep negative comments, personal attacks, and speculation out of this post. My sister and niece have already been through enough, and I will not tolerate anyone turning this into something hurtful toward them. As of now, to my knowledge, no one involved has been written up or fired, which is incredibly upsetting considering the circumstances. I have filed a complaint with the store, and corporate but I feel the public should be aware of what happened and the standards or lack thereof that were demonstrated that day. Academy is a store I enjoy to come to. I could not say the same about my visit today. I ran into a very rude customer associate named Lily working on register 3 on July 31st 2026 around 8:05pm. Lily did not have great customer service. No greeting when I approached the counter desk to checkout, I did have to also come in second time to get a refund within the 2 minutes I left the store. Lily still continued to roll her eyes and rudely stayed checking her cell phone this other time as well. This would not be someone I would want working in customer service or be around customers. I hope she has a better day and learns customer service skills asap.

I bought 2 products. One was broken, one was in a torn package. Thankfully, I realized that in the parking lot was it was easy to return. Except they said my refund wouldn’t appear on my card for 3-5 business days! And the cashier rolled their eyes at me. Not cool.

Today we went shopping at academy’s and brought some winter clothes and a gun. The guy at the gun department his name is Cody. He had excellent customer service and was very helpful. The store had some great sales and is very clean. One thing I love about going shopping is the service and a clean environment. Great store and loads of sports gear to choose from. Enjoyed it a lot.
